Project 365

Hello to whomever is reading my blog!  I had a hard time keeping interest in a blog before because I always felt like I was talking to myself-on the internet.  Sounds kinda corny/arrogant to me. Now that I understand the  benefits of a blog in my photography career, I’m much more interested.

I just read an article about Project 365 and I am excited to try it (again)!  I tried this a few years back when I started getting serious about photography but I only lasted a few weeks.  I set up a flickr account, joined a few Project 365 websites, but I didnt follow through.  Then I joined instagram (follow me) and I love that! But I again didnt want to overload my friends’ feeds with photos they may have already seen on my facebook page.

That being said, now that my 1st year of “professional” photography is coming to an end, I plan for 2014 to start a Project 365 page on this blog, and I hope you ride with me!

I keep updating this blog and it keeps reverting back to the original :(.
Im still trying to figure out how to update my pictures, since Blogger has not helped me :(.  In the meantime, please visit my instagram or flickr site to view my posts.  For February, I am going to use the Black History theme,  mildly similar to this.  If you have any ideas for photos or themes I should capture, please leave a comment below.  Here is my facebook post where I have started gathering ideas.  Thanks!

Shutterfly Photo Books

I love photo books.  I started making them about 5 years ago, when scrapbooking was very popular.  I tried scrapbooking, but I never had the time to sit down that long to finish.  While photo books still take hours to complete, they are rewarding and almost always makes the recipient cry (in a good way :)).

Here is my latest book, for a maternity session I did a few months ago.  Im hoping she gets it in the mail just before Christmas.  And I hope she loves it as much as I do..

Shutterfly photo books offer a wide range of artful designs and embellishments to choose from.

Most all of my books are made through Shutterfly, because I know their system.  The books are reliable, and it doesnt take that long to receive them.  I am longing for the day they develop software I can use without the internet (downloadable).  In the meantime if you have another company you use to make photo books that you love, please let me know!

Joy of Giving Dance Event Photos

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=220912884642226”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

I printed my first batch of photos at a great Party with a Purpose event on 12/6/13.  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Toledo Alumnae chapter holds this event annually to thank their friends for supporting their programs, and collects toys for children registered with Job and Family Services.  The Delta members also donate towards a scholarship given out annually in September.

I was pleased with how the event turned out, and cant wait to improve even more with the next one.  Let me know what you think about the photo.

Ive been busy!

As 2013 comes to an end, I am reflecting back on how much has transpired in my life, and with my photography business.  It has been a whirlwind! I am thankful for the experience :).  Here are a few of the photos I took in November..

What do you think?  I think Im getting better, as I study photography, posing, and running a business.  I am still working on my assertiveness, and balancing photography with the rest of my busy schedule.
